First Year At College

     School events is a great place to get to know people at Stan State such as warriors explore downtown, Stan Fest carnival, and the Stan Fest concert. I attended the concert on Saturday and it was a great experience I am grateful that I did not miss it. I got the chance to meet a couple of new people who were great to hang out with. Going to events at school gives you a great opportunity to meet new people, make new friends, and relieve you'r stress from school; at least that's what happened to me. School events are often announced before hand and some can even help further you in your career. I attended a presentation by the San Francisco police department which helped me get really good information about what I will need to do when I am ready to apply to a police department or a special unit such as the swat team, FBI, etc. These presentations are good to go to if you are looking for information on your major and to hear requirements you may have known about.  The year has barely begun and I have already fell into old habits of finishing all my assignments until the last possible minute. This is something I really need to work on as this blog isn't going to probably get finished until the last minute. Every time I get a new assignment it usually gets pushed to the back of my head until I get reminded that's its due or I remember that it is due the next day. This is not a good habit of mine but it works. I pushed things to far already as I have to read a couple hundred pages of Lone Survivor and seven chapters of my communication book by Thursday for a test that we were told about two weeks back things are not looking up. I hope as time goes on I can find a way to do things on time so I can spread out the work loads. Once I start getting my work done on time it will become a habit and it will be something that happens consistently but it's the change from one habit to another that is difficult. Commuting to school like most is what I do every day except I go to both the Turlock campus and the Stockton campus. It is a difficult task as you have to arrive earlier than most because traffic is unpredictable. My commute is usually twenty minutes ( fifteen if there are no cops in sight) but I leave forty five minutes early so I can find parking which is not really a hassle if I park in lot six and walk to class which takes me around five minutes. Living on campus sounds great but like most I decided to commute since its not to far to drive. Commuting is time consuming so I have a driving playlist and try to drive faster when I have the chance to. Commuting for me is a chance to clear my head and relax. Driving is something I enjoy doing as it takes me away from the stress of work. First two weeks at Stan I saw I was having to fill my Audi around two to three times a week not very cost effective considering I have to buy premium gas for the car.
